“In 2024, there have been multiple incidents of lettuce contamination, including E. coli and Listeria outbreaks.
E. coli outbreak - In December 2024, the FDA and CDC investigated an E. coli outbreak linked to an iceberg and romaine lettuce blend. The outbreak was traced to a common supplier and served at restaurants, schools, and catering events.
In Canada, the CFIA imposed temporary import conditions on romaine lettuce from California’s Salinas Valley from September 26 to December 18, 2024.
Listeria outbreak - In 2024, Ready Pac Foods recalled four salad kits due to a possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled kits were distributed to retailers in several states. ”
